Field Trip to the Planetarium

We had a great time at the planetarium.  Students were able to walk through the museum.  You would be proud to know that they were on their best behavior.  After the museum, we went into the planetarium.  We viewed "Perfect Little World," where we learned about the planets and the sun.  An alien family was trying to find a place to vacation.  In the end, it was decided that Earth would make the best vacation place.  It was a fun fieldtrip. 

Conferences

Don't forget that this week is parent/student/teacher conferences.  If you are unsure of what time your conference is, please contact your child's teacher.

Also, please remember that due to conferences, there is no school Thursday or Friday.  Next week, March 23-27, is spring break.  Enjoy!

Fire Safety

We had our third installment of fire safety today.  Firefighter Dave came and talked to us about emergencies that would make it necessary to call 9-1-1.  He had several people come up and practice dialing 9-1-1.  They practiced how to dial and what to say.  It was interesting to see that many of the kids did not know how to use a landline type telephone.  When he showed them the rotary phone...their minds were blown.

 

 

 

We are grateful to Firefighter Dave for coming.  He always teaches such great lessons. 

The kids love him.

One thing he talked about was the importance of knowing your phone number and address.  There were many kids who did not.  If you have some extra time this weekend, maybe work with your child on memorizing these things.  It may save someone's life.

 

Class Pictures

Class pictures will be Thursday, March 5th.  If you are interested in purchasing class pictures, you will find an ordering envelope in your child's homework folder. 

CRAZY HAT DAY!!

Monday, March 2, is Dr. Seuss Day.  Perrine is celebrating by having CRAZY HAT DAY!!  Wear your crazy...or not so crazy...hats to school that day! 

KMVT visit

We had a wonderful time on our trip to KMVT.  The students were able to learn about how the news is produced, directed, and they were even able to view a live newscast.  The kids were completely engaged and excited to be there.

KMVT did a WONDERFUL job!  We are so thankful we were able to attend.

 

 

 

Read Like a Riverhawk

Thank you and congratulations to all of our students that partipated in the Read Like a Riverhawk night.  Students who completed their reading goals were honored during the half-time of a Canyon Ridge boys basketball game.  The kids were so excited for their moment to shine.  Mrs. Nielsen's class even had the opportunity to sing the National Anthem before the game began.  Great job second graders!  We are proud of you!
